The International Health Centre the Hague (IHCH) was founded in 2007, on Prins Willemstraat. In 2016 the IHCH expanded to our current premises on Jan van Nassaustraat 125, The Hague.
The Hague houses many international organizations which naturally leads to a big expat community. Many expats consider the Dutch Healthcare system to be quite different to that of their own country, and so the mentality surrounding healthcare. Prevention is an area of healthcare that many internationals felt was lacking in the Netherlands. Though the Dutch Healthcare system is well organized and provides effective and world-class medical care, prevention care is minimal compared to many other developed countries.
At the International Health Centre the Hague we understand the needs of expats may be different to that of the general Dutch community. General medicine, prevention care, easier access to medical specialists as well as specialist services such as a travel and vaccinations clinic are at the heart of what we do.
Everyone at the International Health Centre the Hague speaks English. Dutch is also one of our working languages and since many of our healthcare professionals are internationals themselves, we speak many additional languages. That also helps us understand your needs better. We’ve been through the struggles of moving country, settling in to a new job and community, and with that, getting to know a new healthcare system.
Our centre consists of four primary departments, with many specialisms within each department; our General Family Practice (GP’s), Pharmacy, Polyclinic and Dental care.
Our pharmacy stocks many international medicines and supplements, together with skincare, and other healthcare and travel products. The pharmacy features a 24 hour PharmaSelf Dispensing system, where you can pick up your prescribed medicines at your convenience, even when the pharmacy is closed.
Together with General Practitioners (GP’s) our General Family practice also includes psychologists (called POH-GGZ in the Dutch system), practice nurses, specialist diabetes and cardiovascular nurses, alongside trained doctor’s assistants. Our GP Family practice treats everyone from babies and children through to adulthood.
On the first floor you will find our Polyclinic Specialist Medical care department. We have specialists from all over the world and provide over 25 different specialisms, including paediatrics, dermatology, gynaecology, and internal medicine to name a few. The first floor also houses our laboratory where we offer blood tests together with other diagnostic tests.
