Preventive Medicine focuses on the health of individuals, communities, and defined populations.  Its goal is to protect, promote, and maintain health and well-being and it hopes to prevent disease and disability.

What does prevention encompass?

Using common prevention strategies such as regular handwashing, helps prevent illnesses like colds and flu from spreading. Taking the time to prepare and store food safely prevents food poisoning. In both cases, it is much more efficient and cost-effective to prevent the illness than to cure it.

This is what we call primary prevention – get into action before it is too late.

Our preventive services include health checks, travel medicine and childrens immunizations, nutritional counselling and smoking cessation.

See below for more information on our prevention packages. If you would like more information please email us at To book an appointment, call 070 306 5100 and select the Polyclinic department.
