Originally from Suriname, South America, Dr Vincent Artist completed his medical degree to become a medical doctor from the University of Leiden, The Netherlands, in 1991 before returning to Suriname to work as a General Practitioner (GP).
After two years working as a GP in Suriname, he chose to further his medical career in The Netherlands in the field of Psychiatry. Dr Artist completed his specialisation in psychiatry and obtained his qualification to become a psychiatrist from the University of Leiden in 2001.
Since 2001, Dr Artist has been based as a psychiatrist in The Netherlands where he has gained further professional experience. His experience includes: Manager of a mental health program of psychotic disorders in Amsterdam; private psychiatry practice in The Hague with wide experience working with expats and as a forensic psychiatrist at the Dutch Institute for Psychiatry and Psychology – Nederlands Instituut voor Forensische Psychiatrie en Psychologie (NIFP) in The Hague. Dr Artist also conducts forensic psychiatric examinations for the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
Dr Artist now combines his part-time private practice with psychiatric work in collaboration with the IHCH, sharing the same building as the IHCH.
