Drs. Sanne Sanavro was born in Leiden. After finishing a Spanish language course in Granada, she started with medical school in Amsterdam, where she graduated in 2006. During her education, she did research in Costa Rica and an internship in Surinam. In her early years as a doctor she worked at the internal medicine department and ICU/medium care/ER of Meander Medical Centre in Amersfoort.
Because of her interest in the holistic approach in combination with specialised care, she started a specialisation in Internal Medicine. For this education, she worked in different hospitals in Amsterdam mainly VUmc, where she also specialised in Endocrinology and Diabetes care. In 2015 she obtained her degree in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology/Diabetes care.
As an Internist/Endocrinologist she has gained further professional experience in different hospitals in the Netherlands (Albert Schweitzer Dordrecht, Spaarne Ziekenhuis Hoofddorp, and also MC Zuiderzee Lelystad).
She moved from Amsterdam to Leiden with her family and started working at IHCH in 2017. Here she treats patients with thyroid disease, diabetes (type 1, 2 and gestational diabetes in a team with diabetes nurse) but also other internal and endocrine problems. She takes a holistic approach, focusing on patients’ needs with an open mind to integrative medicine. If indicated, she performs abdominal ultrasounds during the consultations.
She is a member of the NIV (Nederlandse Internisten Vereniging) and NVE (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Endocrinologie) and NVDO (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Diabetes Onderzoek)
