Ron Witteveen was born in The Hague and graduated from the Groningen University Medical School in 1980. He finished his neurology training in Groningen in 1988 and worked one year at the neurophysiology (EEG,EMG) department.
Following that, he began a two-year junior staff position at Amsterdam University Hospital (AMC), doing neurological care and research in the field of the autonomic nervous system.
From 1990 til 2018 he worked as a general neurologist at the Alrijne Hospital in Leiden, which is a training hospital for neurologists in cooperation with the LUMC.
In 2018 he started to practice at the IHCH.
